Izmir Katip Çelebi University School of Foreign Languages is delighted to announce their 3rd conference for English language teachers. This one-day conference will take place at the main campus in Çiğli / Izmir on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016, 09.00 – 16.00.
The theme of this year’s conference is Teacher Research, in especially at a local level. The working title is ‘Presenting Teacher Research’. More details will be sent out in the near future, but for the moment could we ask you to please send Speaker Proposals directly to Assistant-Professor Dr. Wayne Trotman waynetrotman@gmail.com
Although we are expecting well-known names to present their work, in particular we invite first-time presenters to apply; spaces are reserved in the programme for this feature. Time-slots will be approximately twenty minutes for the presentation and ten for follow-up questions.
Though research may be qualitative, quantitative or mixed-methods in style, we especially invite proposals on the following sub-categories of practitioner research: action research; exploratory practice; case study; life history; ethnography; conversation analysis; grounded theory; phenomenology. In all cases, in order to enhance our profession, presenters will be expected to link their findings to aspects of classroom and / or institutional practice.
Please spread the word in your institution that attendance at the conference is free of charge. All participants will be given a sponsor’s conference ‘goody bag’, a free dining hall lunch, a name badge and attendance certificate. Along with colleagues working in Schools of Foreign Languages, we also invite teachers working in school contexts.
